I decided to use the Morécello Liqueur that I introduced in last weeks seasonal sipper for another twist on a classic this week. Normally I would not add a liqueur to a Gin and Tonic because I am not a fan of sweet cocktails. But, the addition of the fresh lemon juice balances the Blackberry liquor and keeps the refreshing, bright characteristic of this classic cocktail. I chose Q Tonic water because of the sugar content and the flavor profile. It is less sweet and works well with these flavors. But, you can certainly use any tonic water that you have available.
Ingredients:
1 1/2 oz Hendricks Gin
3/4 oz of Morécello or another blackberry liqueur
1/2-3/4 oz fresh lemon juice
Top with Q-tonic water
Sprig of fresh rosemary
Add the gin, blackberry liqueur and the fresh lemon juice to a mixing glass filled with ice. Stir until cold. Strain into a rocks glass filled with ice, top with the tonic water and garnish with the sprig of fresh rosemary.
